Birkenhead News  15 December 1917

HIT BY SNIPER.

Mrs. Cameron, 26 Chapel Street, Birkenhead, has received news that her husband, Sergt. Cameron, was killed in action on November 30th. His officer states:- “Your husband died fighting bravely against the enemy. He was hit by a sniper whilst quite close to me, and was carried away to the dressing station. He suffered no pain, and was quite cheerful to the end. I always considered him one of my best sergeants and he was always as a brave as a lion and will be greatly missed.”

Sergeant Cameron was a territorial before war broke out and two years ago he joined the Liverpool Scottish. He had been in France 23 months. Prior to joining the Army he was employed at Lever Bros., Port Sunlight. Sergt. Cameron leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss.
