Samuel's Story.
Samuel Bowers was born in Knutsford, one of ten children born to Peter (a farm labourer) and Jane Bowers of 1, Leak’s Terrace, Knutsford. Samuel worked as a general labourer.
He joined the Cheshire Yeomanry as private no. 910 before transferring to the 10th Battalion of the Kings (Shropshire Light Infantry) as Private no. 230674.
Samuel was killed in action on the 30th November 1917.

30.11.17 BEIT DUKKA
Night 29/30th, Battn advanced, and captured TEREH holding the line from BEIT DUKKA to HILL 1750, both exclusively enemy counter attacked during afternoon and eventually rushed HILL 1750 (held by the 25 R.W.F.) & TEREH Battn retired to original line.
Casualties. 8 Officers 93 O.R. killed. 3 Off 14 O.R. wounded, 5 Off 63 O.R. wounded and missing. 2 O.R. missing believed killed, 9 O.R. Acc injured.
