Walter Ernest's Story.

Enlisted Macclesfield. In 1911 he was residing with his grandparents at 16, Railway Street, Crewe. Former pupil of Pedley Street School. Landed at “C” Beach, Suvla Bay on August 8/9, 1915. According to the war diary on the day of his death, the battalion ‘suffered somewhat severely’ and 9 officers were wounded (2 missing) with 18 other ranks killed, 145 wounded and 286 missing.
