Rock Ferry Soldier’s Death in Mesopotamia.
Particularly sad news has been by Mrs. Edwards, of 32, Buxton Road, Rock Ferry, that her son Pte. Harry Edwards, of the South Lancs. Regt., died of dysentery whilst serving with the forces in Mesopotamia on Sept. 14th. Pte. Edwards was very well-known and popular in Rock Ferry, was employed by Messrs. Williams Bros., grocers, in whose service he had been since leaving school. He was only 2 years of age. He enlisted in the Liverpool Regt., but was afterwards transferred to the South Lancs Regt. Pte. H. Edwards was of a very cheerful disposition, and was liked by everybody. He was an enthusiastic member of St. Barnabas Men’s Bible Class. His father, the late Mr. Alex Edwards was the manager of Messrs. Lacy’s branch shop in Rock Ferry for a great many years, being much esteemed by a very large circle of friends.
