Archibald's Story.

Archibald Bailey was born in 1890 the son of John & Eliza Bailey. In 1911 he was living at 134 Shaw Heath Stockport and described as a Bank Clerk. He was working with Manchester & Liverpool District Banking Co. (now part of RBS) at their Manchester office. He enlisted in June 1915 in 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (number PS/7067) landing in France on 14th November of the same year He was killed on 20th July 1916. His body was never recovered after the war and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, to the missing of the Somme. He was entitled to 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
