Rock Ferry Widow’s Loss.

Ex-Councillor’s Nephew Killed.

The deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Myers, of 8, Southdale Road, Rock Ferry, widow of the late William Myers, undertaker, of New Chester Road, upon the death of her son, Pte. Charles Myers. The unfortunate young man was killed in action “Somewhere on the Eastern Frontier,” whilst attached to the 8th Cheshires.

Pte. Myers joined the Wirral Battalion (13th Cheshires) at the beginning of the war, but was transferred later to the 8th Cheshires, and has seen much service with them. Prior to the war he was a much respected employee of Messrs. Lever Bros., and was a favourite with his fellow workers, by whom his loss will be deeply deplored.

Charles is the second son that Mrs. Myers has lost serving their King and country. William, the second son, was killed in the South African War, where he served with the Cheshire Royal Engineers. Mrs. Myers has also another son in the Army, Pte. Jack Myers, of the 4th Cheshires, who was wounded in the leg at Suvla Bay, and is at present receiving treatment at a Manchester Hospital. The deceased soldier and his brothers are nephews of Mr. Thomas Myers, late councillor for Mersey Ward, who is at present serving with the National Reserve.
