Birkenhead News  10 November 1917

DEATH OF ARDENT CHURCH WORKER.

News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Wynn, of 30, Brook Street, that their son, Pte. Stanley Wynn, aged 26 years, was killed in action on October 26th. He joined the R.A.M.C. in October 1915, and was very well known in the town, having been an ardent worker for the Baptist Church, Grange Road, and secretary of the Christian Endeavour. He was hit by a shell when going from one dugout to another, and much sympathy will be extended to his bereaved relatives and friends in their sad loss. Prior to joining the Army he was employed at Horn’s Beef Company, Birkenhead Lairage, where he was very popular.  He left there about eight months before joining the Army, and was with Stephenson and Large, Birkenhead. Pte. Wynn was educated at Cathcart Street School. A memorial service will be held next Sunday at the Baptist Church, Grange Road.
