MILITARY FUNERAL
The death is recorded of Private William Moss, who passed away last Thursday morning, Feb 27th, at the Tranmere Military Hospital, from illness contracted on active service. Deceased, who joined up on the outbreak of war, had seen service in the Dardanelles, being invalided from there with enteric fever. He was twice sent out to France, the first time being badly gassed. His remains were brought home by rail and laid to rest on Monday morning, the coffin being covered by the Union Jack, and borne to the grave by four of his comrades. The funeral service was very impressive, and was conducted by the Rev. Walsham Postance, vicar of Willaston. Many floral tributes were sent, including a beautiful cross from his comrades at the Tranmere Military Hospital. At the conclusion of the service three volleys were fired over the grave and the last post sounded.
