William Ralph's Story.

William Ralph Lowe was born in Runcorn on the 19th April 1899 to William and Jessie Lowe of 10 Cartwright Street. he had enlisted in August 1917 in Chester, going to France in April 1918 and was a Lewis Gunner.
At the time of his death, his brother Private Sam Lowe of the Labour Battalion was a patient in the Runcorn Cottage Hospital, while on leave from France. 
As a boy Ralph had attended Balfour Road Council School and Halton Road Wesleyan Sunday School, afterwards being employed at Ockleston's Tannery at Runcorn.
Ralph has no known grave, being commemorated on the Vis -en-Artois memorial, which bears the names of soldiers who fell during the advance through Picardy and Artois in 1918 and have no known grave.
