Rifleman Robert Leigh Ker was the eldest son of Robert B. Ker, of Ashbourne House, Heswall, and Basnett, Southport. He was educated at Calday Grammar School, and on reaching 18 years of age immediately joined the 6th K.L.R., and only went out on August 24th, 1917. He was killed on Sept.20th.
Prior to the war he was in the Liverpool office of the Belfast Ropework Co. His father was a member of the Birkenhead Rugby F.C. at the time of Mr. Cecil Holden.
