William Albert's Story.
William Albert Critchlow was born in the last quarter of 1878 in Whittle Bank, Beard, Ollersett, Derbyshire to George Critchlow (a print work labourer) and Annie (nee Shore).In 1891 he was a labourer at a print works in New Mills, the same in 1901. By 1911 the family had moved to Crowther Cottage, New Mills, where he was living with his widowed mother, and he was a calico printer’s labourer.
