MERSEY PILOT LOST.
News has been received by Miss Wharton, 370, Park Road North, of the death at sea of Pilot Edgar Stephen Freeman, which took place on December 28th. In a letter from Mr. Evans, secretary of the Pilotage, he says :- “During more than three years of war the pilots of Liverpool have cheerfully borne the intensified risks of their calling and you will be comforted in some degree by knowing that he died at his post of duty”.
Pilot Freeman was only 26 years of age, and resided at 6, Leasowe Avenue, Wallasey. It is sad to relate that his uncle, Mr. J. F. Jones (also pilot) was lost at the same time. Much sympathy will be extended to the bereaved relatives.
