Birkenhead News 12 August 1916Holm-Lane Soldier Killed.
News has been received by his parents at 12, Holm Lane, Birkenhead, that Pte. J. Hughes was killed in action on July 3rd, in France. He was only 19 years of age, and was attached to the South Lancs., which he joined at the outbreak of war, being drafted out to France in September last.
