William's Story.

William was the second son of Mr & Mrs J Collette, 62A Churchgate, Stockport. He was married to May Eleanor Collette who, after the war, was living at 20 Cemetery Road, Ipswich. William had been born in the parish of St Mary's C of E Church, Stockport and it would appear that he lived all his life in the area until he volunteered for the army, in the town, in September 1914. He was originally posted as missing after the attack and it was not until June 1917 that the military authorities made an official presumption that he must have been killed. His body was never found and identified.

Cheshire Roll of Honour would like to thank John Hartley for this information on William.
