Oliver's Story.
Oliver Curbishley was born in Knutsford in 1894, the son of William (A gardener/labourer at Tatton Estate) and Emma Curbishley of 19, Stanley Road, Knutsford. When his father died Emma took up employment as a school caretaker.
On leaving school he became a general labourer.
He attempted to join the Territorial Army in July 1914 but was rejected after a few days.
He joined the army sometime in 1916, becoming Private no. 18649 in the 10th Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment.
Oliver was killed in action on the 13th April 1917.

13.4.17 Batt in Training at the rear.
Later relieved the North Lancs at 8pm
Unfortunately a salvo of 5.9 between La Bizet Church and Motor Car Corner killed 2 OR.
