An Only Son.

Death of Corporal Christie.

After having been held in suspense for upwards of a week Mr. and Mrs. Christie, of 52, Hoylake Road, New Bidston, have received official notification of the death of their only son Andrew, who was previously stated to have died from wounds. It now appears, from the official intimation subsequently received, that this young soldier contracted a disease which was so disastrous in its effect that in a few days’ time Corpl. Christie died.

The bereaved parents have received from his Captain, his Sergt. Major, and his friend, letters expressing their deepest sympathy. In all the letters the writers speak of the deceased as a very popular corporal and a brave soldier.
