Birkenhead Swimming Club’s First Loss

News of the death of Pte. Harry Rhodes, a member of the 4th Cheshires, was received by his wife on Friday. The deceased joined the 4th Cheshires on the outbreak of war, and was drafted to the front with the 5th Cheshires some short time ago. He was killed during the recent heavy fighting at Hill 60, but no date is given. Pte. Rhodes was very well-known locally, being a member of the Birkenhead Swimming Club, which by his death has received its first loss. He was a member of the Y.M.C.A., and his numerous friends will hear with regret of his death. Mr. Rhodes was a painter with the corporation, and resided at Falkland Street.
