James Tarbuck's Story.

C.W.G.C. remember a James T. Molyneux of the 1st Bn. Cheshire Reg’t., Service No 11062 at the Spoilbank Cemetery, Belgium. (l.H.2.) He was aged 29 and died on the 6th April 1915. Son of George Henry and Annie Molyneux, of Castle, Northwich, husband of Kate Maud Molyneux of the Green Long Melford Suffolk. There is a personal inscription; “Thy Will Be Done.”

The Cheshire Regiment book Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914-19 remember a Molyneux, James Tarbuck, b Hartford, Cheshire, e. (enlisted) Northwich, Cheshire, 11062, A/Cpl., K. in A., F. & F. 6/4/15.

Cheshirebmd records the birth of a James T. Molyneux in 1886, Weaverham, which ties in with his age of 29 in 1915 when he died. The 1911 census has the Molyneux family living at 85 Huxley St., Castle, Northwich. George Henry Molyneux is head of the family, aged 53, Labourer at the Chemical Wks., born Northwich; Annie wife, aged 50, born Northwich; James, aged 25, House Painter; Charles, aged 22, Elementary School Teacher; daughters Nellie and Polly age 20 and 16 respectively, Nellie was a grocers shop assistant, both born Northwich.

Cheshirebmd goes on to record the marriage of James T. Molyneux/Katie M. Howe at St. John’s Hartford in 1914. The marriage certificate confirms the marriage at Hartford Parish Church, the date of the 17th Oct. 1914 and that James Tarbuck Molyneux had already enlisted, as his profession is confirmed as Soldier, residing at Public Hall West Kirkby.

N.A.M.C have a medal card for a James T. Molyneux with the Cheshire Reg’t., No 11062 Acting Corporal. Awarded the 14 Star, Victory and British medals. Theatre of War (1) France, Date of Entry 19/12/14. The card records he was K.i.A. 6/4/15.

A Memorial Service dated the 7th Jan 1916, James T. Molyneux of Castle was mentioned.
