A.B. ERIC JONES KILLED
After Nine Month’s Service
News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Owen Jones of 1, Reedville, Birkenhead, that their son, A.B. Eric Jones, R.N.D., who went out to France last October, was killed on Feb 28th, and was buried in an English cemetery in Ribecaut (sic) on the 1st inst. Before joining the forces on June 25th, 1917 worked with his father’s firm, Messrs. Owen Jones and Co., iron-founders, Conway Street. Whilst still a civilian A.B. Jones, who was only 21 years of age when he met his death, worked a great deal for the wounded soldiers, for whom he provided many enjoyable entertainments. Letters couched in the most sympathetic terms have been from the late soldier’s C.O. and chaplain by the bereaved parents.
