Private Richard (Longfellow) Thompson, whose death in action has now been confirmed by a letter of regret from his Commanding Officer, was the son of Mrs. McKeon, 31 Brunswick Street, Rock Ferry. Deceased. A young Irishman, was 24 years of age and joined the 13th Cheshires, Wirral Battalion on their mobilisation in September, 1914. He had been at the front for the past eight months. Before the war he was employed at Messrs. Lever Bros., Port Sunlight, in their No. 1 Oil Mill.
