John Cleveland's Story.
Birkenhead News 27 February 1918YOUNG TRANMERE DRIVER DIES.
The death took place on Feb. 16th at the 36th General Hospital, Salonika, of black water fever, of Driver John Cleveland Jones, M.T., A.S.C., whose home address is Charlescombe Street, Tranmere.
Driver Jones joined the colours on June 5th, 1916, and sailed for the East some ten days later. He unfortunately was unable to get leave, so that his young wife never saw him in khaki. This young soldier was the youngest son of the late Hannah and John David Jones, of Liverpool. He was employed in civil life by Messrs. Barton and Cole, and was very highly respected by his friends in Birkenhead, Liverpool, and North Wales.
