GOSSAGE EMPLOYEE KILLED. John Allman, aged 25 of 2 Parliament Street, Ditton was killed in action on the 27th March. His wife Mrs Alice Allman has received official notification to that effect, and Major Gossage writes "it is with infinite regret that i write to inform you of the death of your husband. He had been a member of the battery for some time , and had always served as the good soldier he was, and in the end gave his life for his country in the same uncomplaining way in which he always worked with us. I am afraid my letter announcing the news will be of little value to you in loss you have sustained, ,but I want you to remember the high regard in which Driver Allman was held. Driver Allman was the son of Mrs. Allman and the late Mr. Thomas Allman. of Vickers Street, Runcorn. He was serving in the R.F.A., and mobilised at the outbreak of war. He was drafted to France almost three years ago. As a boy he was educated at the National School, Runcorn and attended the Parish Church. A brother, Private George Allman is in the Cheshire Regiment. The deceased leaves one child.
