Owen Idwal's Story.
Birkenhead News 24 November 1917OLD Hr. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-BOY KILLED.
We reproduce a photograph of Pte. Owen Idwal Lloyd, who was killed in action on October 31st. He joined the South Lancashire Regiment in June last, and when in France was transferred to the Manchester Regiment. His parents, who reside at 382, Borough Road, have received letters from various members of the same regiment, who speak very highly of him. His second-lieutenant says: “He was always most willing and accomplished in his work, and is greatly missed by all of us. He gave his life like a true Britisher in the execution of duty to his country.” Pte. Lloyd was very well-known in the town, and his death will be much regretted. He was a former pupil of the Higher Elementary School, and afterwards was in business with his father, Mr. J. Usher Lloyd. Much sympathy will be extended to the bereaved parents in their sad loss.
