Ernest James's Story.
Birkenhead News 11 May 1918PORT SUNLIGHT SOLDIER FALLS IN BIG FIGHT.
News has been received by Mr. Iveson, who resides at 6, Greendale Road, Port Sunlight, that his eldest son, Rifleman James Iveson has died at a casualty clearing station in France from wounds received in action on April 12. Rifleman Iveson, who was attached to the King’s Liverpool Regt., was only in his 20th year. He was an old boy of the Mersey Park Schools, and prior to enlisting in the Army was employed by Messrs. Lever Bros., for 4 ½ years in the No. 2 Soapery. He had been with the colours 16 months, and went out to the front last September, and had practically been in action the whole of the time until his death. He was very well-known in Rock Ferry, where he had many friends, and his death at such an early age will be regretted by many, especially his workmates.
