Colin Donald's Story.

Colin was was called up and joined the army as a gunner in 1943.
Colin Tuckett was one of the small number of British troops left in Greece after the main British force left in early 1947.

On May 22nd 1947 Colin was assigned to a maintenance run with one officer and 5 other ranks and was traveling in a Jeep and 3 ton truck between Salonica and Alexandroupolis when at the village of Avra 12 miles North West of Alexandroupolis they were attacked by guerrillas. Colin and the driver were killed and the officer and three other ranks were kidnapped but were later released. Colin was buried in Alexandroupolis at what is now known as Dedeagatch British cemetary
