Edward Thomas's Story.
Born Beaumaris, Anglesey 1891. Parents moved to Cheshire by 1901, resident 1 Clydesdale Rd., Liscard, Wallasey. By 1911 at 5 Mostyn Ave., West Kirby., worked as a builder & contractor. Married Marion F.Shaw, Birkenhead District 1915.
Enlisted Liverpool 28 March 1916 as 36695 Cheshire Regt. To France April 1917, transferred as 27010 Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. Served with their 1st, 6th, and finally 7th Battalions.
Killed in action, battle of the Canal du Nord, France 27 September 1918 aged 27. Buried at Lowrie Cemetery, Havrincourt, France.
Father Joseph John Evans had died sometime before Oct. 1918; mother Maria Evans then resident 24 Lyndhurst Road, Wallasey. Widow resident 12 Rivington Road, Liscard 1918-19. An only son, his sole (older) sister Jennie Rebecca Williams (nee Evans) of 22 Broadway Ave., Wallasey supplied the epitaph for his official headstone.
