Fought in Two Wars
Gallant Stalybridge Soldier Dies of Wounds in France.
Private Herbert Beswick, Manchester Regiment of 34, Set Street, who is officially reported to have died from gas poisoning in France, fought for two years and three months in the South African war, along with the Loyal North Lancashire’s, and was the possessor of Queen Victoria’ s medal and two bars.
