Frederick James's Story.

Born on the 22nd December 1914, the 1939 register shows Frederick living at 102 Claughton Avenue, Crewe, and working in the sorting office at Crewe, where his father was an Inspector.

Sorting Clerk Killed.
Mr. Mrs. F. Simpson, 102 Claughton Avenue, Crewe, have been informed that their son, L/Corpl. F. J. Simpson has been killed in Italy. Before joining the forces in 1940 he was employed at Crewe Post Office as a sorting clerk. He was wounded in a London blitz in September 1940 but recovered sufficiently to go to North Africa and Italy in 1943. He was 29 and married. At the time of his death he was in charge of a First-Aid party.
