James's Story.

Tranmere Man Killed.

Mrs Quirk, of 16 Beaconsfield Rd, Tranmere, has received official news that her son, Private James Quirk, was killed in action on August 25th. He joined the kings Liverpool machine gun section two years ago, had had been in France 12 months. A letter which Mrs Quirk received from his officer states: “your son was an excellent soldier, and died gallantly doing his duty. It may be some consolation to know that death was instantaneous.”

Prior to joining the army Private Quirk was employed at Harland and Woolf’s Bootle, and lived at home in Beaconsfield Rd.
