Donald David George's Story.
Donald David George Bidwell was born on 9th August 1923 in Montreal to parents George and Elsie who were US citizens from Wells River in Vermont. George was living in Vermont and working in a paper mill when he enlisted in RCAF on 6th July 1942. He trained as an air bomber in Canada before transferring to UK arriving on 9th November 1943. He joined 26 OTU on 21st March 1944 and was killed in an accident on 16th May 1944 when the Wellington bomber HF519 that he was flying in on a training mission crashed into the ground near Conwy in Wales. The cause of the accident was never determined. Last radio contact with the aircraft suggests that it was flying at 10,000 feet and dived into the ground at a steep angle. All 6 crew members on board were killed instantly upon impact
