George David's Story.
George Beatty was born in Radville Saskatchewan on 27th February 1920 to parents Mr and Mrs WA Beatty. After completing his primary and secondary schooling in Swift Current Saskatchewan he undertook 1 year of study at University of Saskatchewan followed by 2 years of study at the University of Toronto. He enlisted in the RCAF on 18th April 1941 and served initially as a radio mechanic ground crew and transferred to the UK in October 1941. In June 1942 he remustered as aircrew and completed his pilot training at 28 EFTS in Southampton gaining his wings in 1943. On 27th January 1944 he was assigned as a pilot instructor to 4 Radio Training School at RAF Madley.On 4th May 1944 George was flying Percival Proctor Z7217 with a French trainee on board when the plane broke up in mid air whilst pulling out of a steep dive over Coleford, Monmouth. George and the trainee were both killed. George was married to Marrion and had one young son born in December 1941
