Lyall Kenneth's Story.

Lyall Ken Beattie was born in North Bay, Ontario to parents Alderman and Mrs Arthur Beattie on July 19th, 2024. He was educated in North Bay and prior to enlisting in the RCAF in July 1943 he was employed at an A and P grocery store in North Bay. He trained as an air gunner at Brandon in Manitoba before traveling to UK in April 1944. He was assigned to 83 OTU in Shropshire on 23rd May 1944 for bomber training. On 23rd July 1944 Lyall was one of the crew members of Wellington LP 567 which crashed into the sea near Duffryn in Carnarvonshire with the loss of all crew members. Lyall was initially listed as missing but was confirmed dead when his body washed ashore on 1st September 1944. The cause of the accident was never determined.
