FOUR SONS SERVING – ONE KILLED
Mrs. Forshaw, Crossfield House, off Slack Road, Heswall, has received word from the War Office that her third son, Pte. Arthur Forshaw, 1-4th Cheshire Territorial Regiment, has been killed in action in the East. Pte. A. Forshaw was called up at the beginning of the war, and after training in Bedford and Northampton proceeded to Egypt about two years ago where he had been until his death. He was a member of the Church Lads’ Brigade, a scholar at the day school (where the flag was at half-mast during the week), and before the war he was employed by Messrs. McAlpine and Co. at Thingwall Reservoir. Mr Shaw, the head-master at the Church School, has sent to Mrs. Forshaw, a kindly letter of sympathy. With the War Office notification was a message of sympathy from the King. Mrs. Forshaw has three other sons in the Forces – Pte. John R. Forshaw, 1-4th Cheshire Territorials, who has been wounded once and is now in the East; Pte. George C Forshaw, South Lancs Regt., in France; and Leading Stoker Thomas Forshaw, H.M.S. Swiftsure.
