William's Story.
Born Heswall, September 19, 1893. Enlisted Crewe, April 26, 1911. Son of Edwin Thomas and Hannah Walker of 242, Edleston Road, Crewe. Former pupil at Edleston Road School. Resided at 17, Exchange Street, Crewe and was formerly employed as an apprentice boilermaker in Crewe Works. Joined the Defence just before Christmas Day, 1915. Was one of 3 Crewe men onboard the Defence that were lost during the Battle of Jutland.
