John's Story.

Born 25 March 1909 in South Manchester, son of boot maker, James Henry and Bertha, (nee Moores), Waring, of 45, Royal Street, Ardwick, Manchester. His siblings at that time were May and James.

In the summer of 1937, John married Ethel Clayton, registered at Macclesfield. By 1939 they were living at 143, Dickens Lane, Poynton, John was employed as a stone mason’s yardman at a builders merchants.

John died on war service, Wednesday, 20 September 1944, aged 35 years.

He was the dispatcher on a Stirling IV with 620 Squadron when it was hit by flak and crashed 19.00 hrs near Vorstenbosch, 25 KM south west of Nijmegen, Netherlands. Three crew members survived, but the other three crew members including John were killed.
