Death of a Veteran.

Port Sunlight Gateman Killed.

Much regret is felt in the South End at the news of the death from wounds received in action of Sergeant F. Dellow, whose home was at 13, Heath Road, Lower Bebington. Sergt. Dellow being a reservist was called up with his regiment, the 2nd Middlesex, at the commencement of hostilities, and had been at the front for nearly a year, having taken part in the battles of Neuve-Chapelle and St. Eloi, in which he was wounded twice. He came home to England for a short time to recuperate, and was then drafted out to the 4th Battalion of the “Die Hards,” with which he received his fatal wounds on July 1st in the great attack on the German trenches.

Sergt. Dellow was employed at Messrs. Lever Bros. as a gateman, and was therefore very well known and respected by all with whom he came into contact. He had served 12 years in the Army, and had been abroad for a great part of his time, including India, China, etc. He leaves a wife and child to mourn his loss, to whom the greatest sympathy is extended.
