Kenneth's Story.
Born in 1922, son of iron and steel warehouse man John (Jack) and Bertha, (nee, Clarke), Harrop, of 19, Grange Road, Macclesfield.
Kenneth had become engaged to be married shortly before his death. Kenneth took off in Lancaster PB353 at 17.24 hours from Fiskerton, Lincolnshire, on 6 October 1944, it was presumed to have been lost over the Baltic Sea. Kenneth died, Friday, 6 October 1944, aged 22 years.
In April 1942, No. 49 squadron converted to Manchester’s, but these were soon replaced by Lancaster’s, which it flew for the rest of the war.
