Birkenhead News  20 October 1917

DIED OF WOUNDS.

The sad news has been received of the death in action of Pte. J. H. Croxon, which took place on Sept. 22nd. Pte. J. H. Croxon was in the Territorials before the war, and was called up to the Cheshire Regt. at the outbreak. He had been in France nearly three years, and died of wounds in the casualty clearing station. He left messages with his nurse for his sister, Mrs. Rushton, of 33 Adelphi Street, late of Bentick Street, with whom he had lived. He was employed at the Cheshire Lines before joining the Army. Pte. Croxon was home on leave in August last, and had only ben back in France about two weeks when he met his death.
