Edward's Story.
Edward was born in Wheelock; his name also appears 1st Sandbach and 1st Wheelock Boys Brigade Roll of Honour.
Both his brothers, Harry and Frank served with him in the 7th Cheshire’s. Harry also fell during the fighting in Gallipoli. Frank survived the war, he left the army 12th May 1919

TWO BROTHERS KILLED
Official news has been received that Private Harry Wilkinson has been killed in the Dardanelles while serving with the First 7th Cheshire Regiment with his two brothers, Edward and Frank.
He was wounded in the leg, and whilst being conveyed on a stretcher from the firing line, a shrapnel bust over him and killed him. This happened on or about the 20th August.
This week the wife of Lance Corporal Edward, who was promoted to the non-commissioned rank on the field, has received official intimation that her husband has been killed.
Lance Corporal Frank Wilkinson, the third brother, has written home to say that he saw Edward fall whilst they were charging the enemy’s position at mid-night. When the battle was over, he searched for his brother but failed to find him.
Both Edward and Harry were married men, and the latter leaves four children.
