Death from Wounds.
As was reported in our last issue Drummer Stanley G Watson, aged 19, of the 4th Cheshires has died of wounds received in action on August 18th. He resided with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Matthews, of 119, Patterson Street, Birkenhead, and enlisted on September 5th, 1914. A rather remarkable coincidence is the fact that the official news of his death was received on September 5th.
Stan Watson, as he was known to all his intimates, and especially at the Y.M.C.A., was educated at the Woodlands Council School, and later at the Higher Elementary School, where he was highly respected. Before joining the colours he was employed by Messrs. P. Morris and Co., paint merchants. He was a popular member of the Y.M.C.A. Scouts, having been actively connected with that organisation for some considerable time. His death is sincerely lamented.
