John's Story.
News has been received of the death of Driver Jack Tomkinson, of the R.F.A., which took place on December 24, at a stationary hospital in the East, following an operation for appendicitis. He was 20 years of age, and the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Tomkinson, of 79, Walter street, Chester. He was for some years a member of Christ Church C.L.B. and had served 18 months with the Territorials when he was called up for active service on the outbreak of war. He went aboard in the latter part of 1915, and later proceeded to the East, where he served until his death. He was always of a bright and cheerful disposition, and well-liked by all who knew him. A memorial service was held at Christ Church. Great sympathy is extended to all the family in their sad bereavement.
