Killed While Looking Out Of  A Window

The sad news has been received of the death of Pte. George Roberts, Cheshire Regt., who was killed in action on April 1. He was 25 years of age, joined the colours in September, 1914, had been two years in France, and was previously wounded. He was the third son of Mrs. M. Roberts, and of the late Dr. David Roberts, 10 Cobden Street, Rock Ferry, and his wife resides at 35 Percy Road, Seacombe.

Lieut. Hoole writes:- “Dear Mrs. Roberts – I am sorry to inform you that your husband was killed in action on April 1. He was Pioneer in B.E.D. Headquarters, and I was more than sorry to hear he was killed while looking out of the window of his hut, when a shell came and killed him, and wounded a lot of others. Fate rules all these things; for poor George we are all very sorry.”
