Walter's Story.

Born Shavington, enlisted Crewe. Son of Walter and Emily Rhodes of 2, Sandon Street, Crewe. Prior to enlisting in November 1914, was a house painter in the employment of Mr Sampey of Market Street, Crewe. Went to France on September 26, 1915. Killed (wound to his back) at 3.00am whilst working on a parapet. His Medal Index Card states he was killed on April 24.
