TWO YEARS IN FRANCE.
The friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Douglas, whose home is at 12, Cardigan Street, Birkenhead, will be sorry to learn that their eldest son, Gunner John W. Douglas was killed in action on July 18th. The deceased soldier, who was 24 years of age, joined the Royal Field Artillery in September, 1914. Prior to this he was apprentice rivetter at Messrs Grayson and Co’s shipyard. He has been in France two years, and was shortly expected to come home on ten days’ leave. He was a member of St. Anne’s Church, and a regular attendant at the Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas have another son serving with the colours. Private Thomas Douglas, who is now in hospital at Edinburgh recovering from severe wounds caused by an exploding shell. The family have every sympathy in their sad loss.
