Edwin's Story.

Born Willaston, enlisted Manchester. Son of Edward R. and Mary Platt of 26, Coppice Road, Willaston. A former pupil of Willaston Council School. Served his apprenticeship as a sawyer with Mr James Wood, and at the time of enlistment was working at the Crewe Co-op. Renowned for his cabinet making and was a keen photographer. Went to France on November 10, 1915. His commanding officer, writing to Edwin’s mother, stated he was killed at 6.00pm by a shell bursting at his feet.
