Henry's Story.

Henry was not a native of Stockport, having been born in Carlisle. However, by the time of the 1901 Census, he was living in the town and was working a felt hatter. Later, he married Mary Jane and they lived at 7 Brook Street. He enlisted at Stockport, and his service number suggests Jane, this was probably during 1916 when he would have been conscripted. The local newspaper, reporting his death, also noted that his brother, Jim, and brother-in-law, Joe, were both serving with the army in France.
