David's Story.

Born Brinklow, Warwickshire, enlisted Rugby. Parents resided at 15, Chester Street, Crewe. Employed as a bricksetter by the LNWR at Rugby after serving his apprenticeship in Crewe Works. Was a member of Haslington and the Forge football teams. First served in France, landing there on May 20, 1915. Previously wounded, and after a spell at home, returned to the Front. He is listed on the Crewe War Memorial as McNICOLL.
