Arthur Reginald's Story.

Birkenhead News  07 October 1916

Missing Rock Ferry Soldier.

Traced by International Red Cross Society.

Since hearing that their eldest son, Pte. Arthur Kingsley, of the King’s Liverpool Regt., was missing since the battle that took place on the Somme on August 9th, Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley, of 20, Rock Lane West, Rock ferry, have left no stone unturned to find out the fate of their boy. After making diligent inquiries in every direction they enlisted the aid of that world-wide organisation, the International Red Cross Society of Geneva. Mr. Kingsley has this week received word from the Society that his son died from wounds at the prisoners’ hospital, St. Quentin, on August 17th. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley are naturally very thankful to the Society for what they have done for them, as it has relieved their minds somewhat. They now know that their son has given his life for home, King and country.

Pte. Arthur Kingsley affectionally known to all as “Rex” had been at the front since January, 1915, and had he lived till last Wednesday would have celebrated his 21st birthday. In happier times he was employed in the offices of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, where he was very well liked and respected by all. He regularly attended the services at Higher Bebington Church. The deepest sympathy will be extended to his parents in their sad loss by a very large circle of friends.
