HOYLAKE SOLDIER KILLED.

Mrs. Hindley, 17, School Lane, Hoylake, was officially informed on Friday last that her husband, Pte. G. Hindley, of the Cheshire Regt., has been killed in action. Before volunteering at the beginning of the war deceased was employed by Messrs. E. Beddard and Co., coal merchants. He was soon discharged as unfit for service, but with many other discharged men was called up early last year. After six months’ training he was drafted to France last November. In April this year he was wounded in the left eye, was treated in France, and went into action again. A field card was received from him, dated Sept, 1, saying he was quite well. He met a hero’s end on Sept 2nd. His death is the more touching as his leave was just being expected after eleven months in the field.
