Charles Henry's Story.

Charles Henry Daniel was born in Knutsford in 1891, one of four children born to Edwin (a butcher) and Emma Daniel. The family moved from Hazel Grove to live at 26, Richmond Hill, Cross Town, Knutsford when Edwin died.

On leaving school Charles took up his father's trade and became a butcher.

At the outbreak of war Charles enlisted at the Altrincham Recruiting Office, becoming Private no. 11145 of the 1st Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment on the 31st August 1914.

Charles was killed in action on the 6th May 1915.
